How Much Does a Small Online Store Cost to Launch?
Understand the store build, initial catalogue, payments, shipping and recurring costs before planning your ecommerce budget.
A store budget includes the agreed build, product content and operational setup, plus recurring platform and payment costs. Define the initial catalogue and purchase journey before comparing quotes.
Budget for the purchase journey, not just the storefront
A small online store needs customers to understand the product, pay and know what happens after ordering. Your team also needs a manageable way to handle orders, stock, delivery and questions.
The design is part of that work. The initial product catalogue and operating rules can change the scope just as much as the visual style.
Our indicative starting range
Aura Logic’s store projects start at USD 1,800–2,900 for a limited, agreed scope. This is our own planning range, not an average across providers or a price for every kind of store.
The proposal defines the catalogue, pages, payment gateway and shipping rules. Complex integrations, large catalogues and additional languages need separate estimates. Platform subscriptions, transaction charges, photography and applicable taxes are separate where relevant.
Prepare the initial catalogue
List the products you want to launch, variations such as size or colour, prices and the information buyers need. Confirm who supplies and approves descriptions and photographs.
Uploading a few simple products is different work from preparing a large catalogue with many variants and incomplete data. Agree the initial number and complexity instead of leaving “product setup” undefined.
Clarify payments and order handling
Decide how customers will pay and who owns the payment account. The proposal should describe what is configured and what requires your business approval.
Check the complete test journey: add an item, review the total, submit a test payment where supported and confirm that the order reaches the responsible person. Do not assume a visible checkout means the operation is ready.
Define delivery and customer information
Prepare the destinations you serve, delivery options and rules the store should display. Clarify who provides returns information and other customer policies; those decisions come from the business, not an invented template.
This guide explains project scope, not legal or tax requirements. If those details affect your store, obtain advice appropriate to your situation before launch.
Separate initial and recurring costs
| Initial scope | Ongoing or separate costs |
|---|---|
| Store design and agreed pages | Platform subscription and domain |
| Agreed initial product setup | Payment processing charges |
| Payment and shipping configuration | Product photography and later uploads |
| Purchase tests and instructions | Support and additional integrations |
Request the actual third-party costs in the proposal. This article does not quote live subscription or payment-provider fees, which vary by service and arrangement.
Start with an operation you can manage
A limited first launch can help you test how the business handles orders. It should still explain the product clearly and provide a reliable purchase journey. Add integrations when you can identify the manual task or business limit they address.
