How to Get Found in ChatGPT and AI Search
Practical steps to help ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude find and quote your business, from clear service pages to honest founder details.
AI assistants can only quote what they can read, so clear service pages and honest business details matter more than chasing a ranking you cannot control.
Explain your business before chasing a new search channel
More and more of your potential customers now ask an AI assistant such as ChatGPT for a recommendation instead of opening a list of search results. That means something very specific: if your website cannot explain what you offer, who it is for and how to reach you in plain language, an assistant has nothing solid to quote.
A useful website makes it easy to understand what you offer, who it is for, what the next step costs and how to contact you. Publish that information in readable pages with working navigation.
AI search adds another way people may discover information. It does not provide a reliable shortcut around helpful content, ordinary indexing or a credible business offer.
The practical goal is to get found: a page an assistant can read, understand and quote accurately when someone asks it a question about your work.
Start with the foundations
Check that your important pages return the correct status, can be accessed by the relevant crawler and have a clear title and heading. Link guides to the service they help a customer understand. Describe the founder and business accurately.
Google’s guidance for AI search features says its existing SEO foundations remain relevant. There is no special structured-data markup required for those features. Eligibility does not guarantee that a page will appear.
Publish information you can support
Useful topics include your own scope and prices, how your process works, the information a buyer should prepare, and documented examples of work. Identify illustrative examples and do not present generated imagery as proof of client results.
Avoid creating many near-identical pages merely to mention different cities or tools. A specific question with a useful answer is a stronger editorial starting point.
Measure what is observable
Use Search Console to inspect Google indexing and search performance. Track qualified enquiries separately from visits. If an AI tool cites your page, record the actual example and date; do not extrapolate it into a guaranteed ranking across other tools.
A file such as llms.txt may be useful as an optional reading index. It should not be sold as a promise of search inclusion or new customers.
